Took a 2-day trip this past weekend to the Chequamegon National Forest in extreme northern Wisconsin, primarily for the dark skies (I'm an amateur astronomer). In the process, I had a closer encounter with a black bear. Check the 2nd photo at the link:

Taken through a hole in the back door of my host's house, about 15 feet from the bear. Quite an experience! I did some scouting for a good botany shot while there but didn't get anything I was tempted to submit.

Great shot, John, especially shooting as you did. Nice details and coloring in the bear. He's cute. Love the other shots on your page, too. Love the sun spots one. Nice work.
