Last week i myself requested that my photo be validated because i was leaving the country. So before i left i sent in my original photograph. Last night i log on and see that they want proof again...i don't have the original here. Now my photo has been DQed :(...the internet here is too slow and cost a lot so i just wanted to ask what happened?? |

It was also my best score yet, and the best score under my camera.
Im in South America with my parents, i will come back on this afternoon to check what happened. Hopefully someone can find the original photo that i sent last week.

Your EXIF data was invalid and we have reason to believe it was not an unaltered file.

I myself checked the EXIF info before i requested validation, i have been asked to validate before so i know for sure that the info was right. |

The file you submitted had characteristics that were not consistent with an original from your camera, thus the rerequest.
Given that we knew you were out of town, we did wait longer than the normal 48 hours on the rerequest. You then checked back onto the site, and since you did not submit your original at that time or contact us explaining when you would be able to do so, we disqualified the entry for non-response.
If you can resubmit the original when you get home, we can probably rereview it at that time (though I have not discussed this statement with the rest of SC so this should not be taken as a commitment... just speculation on my part).
Also, what other images have you had validated? I don't have an easy way to go back and check that.

Thank you for answering me back so quickly. The phone lines don't work so well here and the internet is very expensive and I have very little time.
I did try to send a response last night and lost the internet connection. That's why I was following up this morning. The phone lines are very old and unstable here.
Thank you for the offer of resending my original when I get back home but please be advised I will not be back home until 7 August and much of that time I will be in remote areas without any internet connection at all. If you can wait that long thank you but I'm sure that my other submission is the correct file and I certainly would not submit an illegal photo and especially request for an illegal photo to be validated.
The other photo I validated before was my abstract photo submission. That photo had a request for validation and was approved.
Thanks again everyone but I got to go and will check back this evening or tomorrow morning. |

Hello again, I e-mailed ClubJuggle and langdon a week ago about this DQ, and have gotten no response. Im back from South America and was wondering if u guys will let me resubmit my original. I have checked the EXIF data and its there and legal. As i said before, I myself requested for my photo be validated because i was leaving the country. So hopefully you guys can make an exeption.
Thanx |

I just reviewed the SC notes regarding this photo. Club went out of the state shortly after receiving your email, which is why he probably didn't respond, however, it looks like it was voted that 2 months was a bit too long to send in proof. we usually allow 48 hours, and can sometimes extend that for some circumstances, but by days, not months. |

Your exif data is definately incomplete. Indicating that SOMETHING was done to it, be it editing, or something during loading from cam to comp. But it is definately incomplete. Without the completeness of the exif, we cannot validate it. This is why the photo was DQed. Any photo that is missing data or has corrupt data is DQed. We're not picking on you, but we just can't validate it. |

I think if the exif and date are there and are correct the best thing would be to un dq it? I really don't see any reason why not. he's got a good reason for not answering sooner also. For the sake of fairness, if exif is there and correct, put the mans pic back in!

Two months is too long. I'm sorry but that's the realities of dealing with all that the SC oversees on the site. If everyone who had been DQ'd came back two months later with originals for us to reconsider, we'd never get out of the starting block. Some time restrictions are not only appropriate, but necessary. Its not unreasonable to set a timelimit on the submission of originals given that challenges last only a week and recalcuations after a challenge has fallen off the front page is not fair, especially for those who may be unduly "cheated" out of their time on the front page as a new ribbon winner. We don't have money or gifts to give away with the ribbons..just the "face time" on the front page.
Other members of the SC have explained what was wrong with your original the first time. Its extremely important for users and members to make sure the right file has been uploaded before leaving. If that is not possible, leave your originals with someone who can submit them for you.. if the challenge means that much to you.

Maybe something happened during the upload process, I say let the man resubmit proof in this case.

That's the problem, the exif is not complete. If we allowed incomplete exif (for any reason) we might as well not have rules at all, cause there would be no way of validating the photos. |

I undersatand...but i did submit the right file (and requested proof so that it wouldn't get DQ"ed cause i cared about the challenge)...now the problem is that u guys can't see the EXIF data for some reason...we need to find out a way to fix this :) (and i think my reason is different then everyone else...i was on vacation for 2 months...away in a different country with slow and expensive internet LOL)
