Lovely fine winter's day here so spent the afternoon taking pics of a friend's dogs racing round the paddocks. Taken using sports mode, 90-300mm f/4.5-5.6 USM lens handheld. If you want to have a look there's more pics here

Nice action shots. Does Benji have a black face. I thought it was shadows at first, but on second look I think his face is darker than the body.

Nice job Sue, I really like animal action shots. Makes me want to get my two out there for photos. It's too hot here right now... but maybe in the fall. Your friend should be really happy with those photos.

Yep almost completely black which made the lighting more difficult. I want to take photos of the local dog agility competitions in November so needed to get in some practise with moving canine missiles. The dogs were very enthusiastic about the rehearsals.

What was your shutter setting at and your ISO as well? I'm still trying to get a handle on all of this.

Was using the camera in sports mode most of the time so the settings are automatic and varied according to the light......most of the time though ISO was 400, 1/1250, F5.6.

Thanks. Looks good. I want a Rebel so much. Upgrades on truck are coming first though.

Thanks DoFear :) That's Hudson, he's the most gorgeous black/burnt copper colour, and that was one of the very rare times he was sitting still.
