Hi all! Are we all having a happy Tuesday?
Question... I had my monitor calibrated to my satisfaction; Prints were matching and life was good. But as in life, the only constant is change. Yup, the dreaded 'shift' has indeed occured! So I've decided to upgrade things a bit or at least I'm thinking about it because NAPP is offering members a discount on either the Colorvision Spyder or the Monaco Optix XR. Do any of you have experience with either of these two models? Like one over the other? If so, why?
As always, thanks for the info! |

I use the Colorvision (Pantone) Spyder.
I like it very much and get good results.
The software is easy to use and quick.
It comes with the equipment to work with all monitor types.
I have not read about or used Monaco Optix XR so I can not comment on it.

Reviews seem to suggest the Monaco OptixXR might be the better of the two, but it usually runs about $100 higher in price.

Some calibrators have been designed to work with specific hardward (like the device that comes with the Sony Artisan). This might be true for LaCie's blue eye vision too. I know they won't support DDC except with their own hardware.
The BasiCColor Squid is the only 3rd party device on the market right now that supports DDC. |
