Great picture, I feel it is a little too central. maybe crop tighter on the right hand side ?

I too believe it may look better cropped closer to the head and tighter to either side. Which would look better I'm not sure. |

Yes, and I agree, either crop the right hand side or crop it very closely around the eagle so that it dominates the frame. There are some many great details on a close-up eagle that you really dont want it to be competing with a background. Having a non-central fairly wide shot isnt a bad thing, but when you just have a standard head shot it's usually better to get in close.

Yes, what's been said before, and also crop it to a portrait orientation, it would work better that way IMO.
That's pretty much in agreement with moodville that a very close crop would be best to accentuate the detail.

How's this look? Cropped and added border.

I would drop the border and maybe play with some of the color a tad. Bring a more vivid yellow to the beak without making it looked dyed. That's just my taste though.

The crop is much better as you can see the details in his/her feathers and eyes. The border is a personal thing so go with what you like. The image seems a little soft probably due to the significant crop. Did you USM it at all? I think the muted colors arent bad but you could always try boosting the saturation and even turning it black and white and then deciding which one you prefer.

IMO looks much better cropped, no longer has the distracting background. I don't use PS or other top suites so can't really comment on these, but could do with being bit more colour to beak. Would like to see end result. |

Yep, you should crop it. The cropped version is much better, IMHO.
