Legendary photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson, who traveled the world for more than a half century capturing human drama on film, has died in France, French media reported Wednesday. He was 95.
Cartier-Bresson shot for Life, Vogue and Harper's Bazaar magazines and his work inspired generations of photographers. Cartier-Bresson became a French national treasure, though he was famously averse to having his own picture taken or to giving interviews.

Great artist.
Notice that there are at least 2 other threats dealing with this. |

Maybe we should have a challenge that would honour his memory. I remember reading a short news items that stated that Cartier-Bresson only shot in black and white and NEVER cropped any of his pictures.
Maybe we could have a challenge where all submissions should be submitted in black and white and where no cropping whatsoever is allowed. I know the no cropping aspect would be hard to control, since some would undoubtedly submit cropped images, but it would be an interesting challenge nonetheless. The top 5 would have to be validated in any case.
Just a suggestion.

He also used the same little Leica with a fixed 50mm lens for everything.
New York Times website has a slideshow of some of his work. I saw an hour-long interview with Charlie Rose. I've been seeing his stuff all week. My one of my entries this week already looks like that type of shot (I only had to crop a little!). : ) |
