Pearcer, the thought is good, but there are too many ways it can be circumvented or become a problem. People could end up leaving nonsense just to move to the next photo, or simply run out of constructive things to say. People who vote 1 or 2 are generally saying "this is not a valid challenge entry" so they assume they don't need to leave a comment, but often forget that the photo may be by a new person or be trying something that just wasn't apparent to them. Since voting is anonymous, not leaving a comment doesn't actually say "not a valid challenge entry," because we never know who votes what score.
People who vote 3 or 4 should really leave a comment, because those scores are so flexible: Did it meet the challenge but lack some photographic skill? Or not meet the challenge but knock your socks off? Or sort of meet the challenge, but it just didn't look great?
I do think the words "good" and "bad" in the voting should be removed. Unless we are going to have specific, defined rules for voting, the vote scale should just be "top" and "bottom."
(By "valid" I don't mean DQ terminology, but rather that the item is of unacceptable quality and does not meet the challenge)
