Anyone here use one of these or played with them? They are quite a lot less expensive than Gitzo Carbon Fiber tripods. Are they worth getting?

I asked about carbon fiber tripods at a local shop (not wolf or ritz) and the main issue being weight of he tripods. Carbon fiber is just a little lighter than regular tripods. But cost a bunch more than a metal tripod.
Another issue came up about shooting in storms and the carbon fiber would be a little safer than a metal tripod.
unless you are a big nature hiker and need to cut weight any where you can then a carbon fiber tripod is just not worth it.

here is a compare of 2 similar tripods by Giottos, one is a carbon fiber, the other is not
the weight differance is not even 1 pound. but the price differance much different. $268 for carbon fiber and $145 for regular.
Carbon fiber model MT-8160
Regular Model # MT-9160
they have the same specs, and have the same load capacity.
So the big question is, is the extra $123 worth it to have carbon fiber?
I looked at a few of the Gitzo Carbon Fiber tripods and to get one with similar qualities to the Giottos, you will pay between $100 and $200 more than the above Giottos carbon fiber tripod, but the Gitzo Carbon Fiber tripods are lighter.

Other than price I didn't see much difference between the aluminum and carbon fiber tripods when I went shopping for my Manfrotto. I really wanted carbon fiber but when I picked them up, I couldn't tell a difference between the two in terms of weight. In my opinion, I think it's more bragging rights than functionality.
