Its finally here 2 weeks 1 day and 14 hours after ordering (not that I was counting) was stung with £82 duty but it is still £30 cheaper than anything I could find in the UK

OK, so this picture isn't wide angle nor my best ever, am just having a play with my new toy during a rather overcast day. First impressions are it is lighter and shorter than imagined, focus is so so fast, not sure how 'silent' focus got into the blurb but it is quiet oh, and it is fast to focus.

I'm told the 300D and reds are not the best of friends but hey, if its there shoot it.

Original pic with just a little adjustment and resizing (the white blob bottom right is a little off putting.

This is a crop of above f4 @ 1/60 and I reckon its pretty sharp. Considering these buds are almost 3 times their real size, how would it have faired in the macro IV challenge?

Thanks for looking :)

edited to say can someone add f/4 L to the title please?

Sweet mercy! TWO WEEKS!

I ordered some bits on last Tuesday from B&H - arrived Friday. I did have a pre-authorised credit card though..

Congrats on the new kit. Very nice shots so far.

Photos look very nice and lots of detail. I really REALLY wanna see what that lens can do at night and at 17mm wide open. If you could take some of those shots I'd appreciate it. :)

Thanks peeps :)
Have never been a night time fotog (live in the country) so may not be able to help Mr A but there are many 17-40 owners here that can - can't you!
Mambe, 7dayshop have just included VAT in their prices and I started a thread about that here.
