I really like the lighting on this photo. I would remove the branch on the right as it's a bit of a distraction for me. Also I'd say the black portion on the bottom creates too much dead space.

The subject seems to be posed pretty well, I like the light comming through the glasses, you might try a couple different positions and see what you like though - perhaps try turning her face more to the left to capture more of her profile.

Also, depending on what the landscape looks like you might try getting lower to remove those treetops on the left or get above the subject to capture more of the landscape.

I like the sky but dislike the very bright parts of it, maybe they could be toned down a bit. As Visi said I would try and get lower so that more features of the model are showing in the silhouette and also turning slightly to the left would also bring out more facial features.

Yes the tree is a distraction on the right and a full 1/3rd of the bottom is black. Could there be more sky? Could the model be standing, kneeling or bending over? Maybe picking something up like a flower, hands raised in the air, add a bit of action/purpose.

I no expert at this so I hope my comments are helpful and maybe spark an idea for you!

I think you place way too much merit on a virtual ribbon, Jeremy. :-) Just have a good time doing it, and don't worry about those damn ribbons - as allusive as the little buggers can be!
