Remake a Normal Rockwell painting, and try to create it as close to the original as possible.

Some of my recent photos, so I've been told, look like Colvilles (Alex). Trouble is I was going for Kandinsky or Rauschenberg. ;-)

It's a made photo from a candid I took around midsummer night on Second Beach, here in Vancouver, against a low sun. The original had very warm colours reminiscent of so many sunsets.
I removed colour, selected the coldest hue in the scale, and passed the Diffuse Glow filter. I increased contrast, decreased the given brightness and (quite deliberately) applied excessive sharpening (USM) to achieve a harder feeling with crisp detail.
I have a weakness for Japanese prints, but didn't want a sweet stereotype.
