I think I'm doing my own photo a day challenge. Nothing took my fancy in the garden tonight and my attempts at macro where way off mark.
This was one of my last shots,
would it be better without the text?
do I have a future career in postcards?
should I go to bed as its too late for me to be doing this?
thanks for looking, comments/critique welcome (as always)

In my short time at DPC so far, I've learned that people seem to dis flower shots. But I really like a good one - and I think yours is. I like the words - the only thing I would suggest is to get rid of the quote marks - they are a distraction in an otherwise very clean layout. |

I like it with the text. Dump the quote marks. Consider a hairline frame inside the image about a quarter inch using the same color blue as the flower. Then, go to bed.

Got to agree with the bed time thing. Like the shot Andi - though it comes across a touch dark here - loses some of that fabulous blurred background that shows up if I lighten it. For me, keep the quote marks - without them, it would just look like a title, and that 'thou' gives away that it's a quote. Don't need conflicts in your text.

Thanks peeps, have removed quotes as I guess its obvious who wrote them?
ed, thanks for looking deeper into the image, why (oh why) did I remove the bg???? oh, I know, its late in the UK and I was entering my black period (sleep). And for those that have seen my last few contibutions here, yes I still have to put up with the second hand 50mm f/1.8 mk1 (I may be sending the 17-40l back when it arrives)

doh! am still here.
Gary, I'm not that up on frames other than simple ones - a quick tutorial on adding a frame inside the image would be nice :)

If you are using photoshop then draw a marquee box just inside the image where you want the frame to be. Edit > Stroke and fill in color, size etc and click ok and you should have a border inside your image.

Thanks for the border tips :) am sure I'll use them sometime but not for this pic, I'm not really a 'border' guy and felt it detracted from this particular image. Now I just need to go out and take a picture to fit this border style :)
