Took a day trip to St Andrews today and happened to pass by the "Royal & Ancient" took a few pics which might be of interest to anybody who has been there or is interested in paying a visit to the home of golf.
Not a Scots accent to be heard on the course(except for the caddies).

Wow. Most excellent. I'll have to go there some day. Certainly is a different golf course compared to what I'm used to.

I think you would feel very much at home as most of the accents I heard were American. Next year is St Andrews turn for the "Open" I believe..which would be a good time for any golfing fanatic to visit. |

would be a great time...unless said golf fanatics want to play St. Andrews...I've considered such a trip for next year, but we all want to play St. Andrews, so we'll either wait another year or go at a different time (original plan was 6 days of golf and 2 days watching the Open).
So many golf destinations, so little time....just got back from a four-day golf trip yesterday. Will post some pics when I recuperate. |

From Lon Simmons' Baseball Hall of Fame Induction "speech" on Sunday, 7/25/04:
Joe Morgan is really competitive, and we were even as we approached the 18th tee. My drive was right down the middle, while his found the deep rough off to the right.
We searched and searched, and finally I said "you know, Joe, you only have five minutes."
"You go ahead and shoot, I'll keep looking," he replied.
Knowing I had the hole won, I went ahead and laid up softly on the very front of the green. As I walked up to putt out, I heard a shout of "I found it!" from behind me, and here came the ball slashing out of the rough, skipping right through the bunker, and ending up THIS close to the hole.
Now, what do you say when you have HIS ball in YOUR pocket? |

I have been playing golf since I have been 8 and I was finally lucky enough to go to Scotland last year to play golf for a week. I even won the daily ballad for the old course so I got to play there my last day there... It was awesome. Well worth it for anyone who loves the sport...
Anyway, here is a shot I took of the old course club house when we got done. We were working our way over to dinner. It was taken with my Nikon Cool Pix. The 10D is a bit big to carry in the golf bag...
