i noticed after opening some of my photos the get smooth. in other words certain pixelated lines now look perfectly sharp and smooth.

when i print will they look smooth as well? how does this happen?

On your monitor, the jaggedness will show up differently at depending on the current magnification. Always check the picture at 100% magnification before finalizing the print image.
