I didn't get a t-shirt, but i did get some great shots.
Feel free to comment on them. They're my first additions to this site. Unfortunately they are no common objects, nor could i think up of a band with animals, so i just show them here! ;)

These Meerkats are always good for a few shots. (thanks for naming them)

This mountain goat looked quite suspicious..

Edit: Made links, made thumbs.. all looks so much prettier now! :P
Another edit to name my subjects.. thanks all!

These critters are always good for a few shots. Can't remember how they're called in English so if you know, let me know.

If you could tell me the name of this animal (in english) too it would be appreciated! (no you cannot win anything ;))

Edit: if someone can help with getting the images in correctly? Thanks!

Great work, Arjen. :-) My fav is the lion, I love lions, tigers and big cats at all. The funny tan coloured animals can be surikatas or mongouses, I am not sure though. Way to go, and I hope I see you challenging, soon! :-)

Good stuff Arjen, I like them all :) Get any Lizards ;)

No they aren't mongooses, though they are part of the same suricates family - they are called MEERKATS.

I love them too!

Don't know what the last one is...

Your lion shot is nice - nice pose!

Very nice series, last one looks like some sort of mountain goat ?

The lion shot is my favourite. What lens did you use?
07/25/2004 08:26:03 AM · #10
I used my new lens, a 75-300mm from Canon. The cheap one, without stabilizer or usm, since the first doubled the price and i don't use auto-focus really so i didn't need usm either! :)

I didn't get any lizards, since that would mean i need something to put my camera on (tripod or something?).. so i took outdoor shots only.

Thanks all for helping with the thumbs, links and naming my subjects! I think meerkats is the correct species (stokstaartjes in dutch).

Good exposures and colors. Very nice shots. I agree with the others, the lion stands out a lot and what an interesting pose you caught him in.

I like the lion best, too. Shame you didn't enter it in a challenge. You don't have to use an existing band name- something like Dominant Predatory Cats would work fine.

Dominant Predatory Cats would've been a good idea.. just shows how far your imagination goes and how far mine does.. :D

I did go to a festival on sunday, wich was supposed to be outside so i brought my camera! But it was raining before i even got there, so the whole thing was brought indoors. Me and my new lens were out of place!

These were not the only errors i made (ISO was still at 100 :S) but i managed to get some shots:

//www.dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=93901
//www.dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=93902

When i got home i was too tired for post-editing so i was too late to enter any of these. They wouldn't have beaten the lion-thing though :D

Since you like taking pictures of Meerkats, what do you think of mine?

I think the image looks better in a larger size myself...
