I am playing around with shadows and light and i cam up with this. I did not edit the picture other than croping.

Very nice Rose Dave. I took a similar pic a whiles back, the background distracted me a bit so I ps'd it into the below (the rose colour was not changed, just the background). I like the shadow on the petal, it gives a feeling of the warmth of the sun to me. Maybe a tad overexposed in places but I like it :)

I took my first rose pics just a couple days ago, I would like to share them with you. I was daytime, I just got my closeup lenses, this was taken with +10 and +7 lenses. I did a little photo shop crop.. and solorized one.

Was the colour difference on the top and right done on purpose?

I really like the first two. The Solarized one is a little to much for my tastes though. I am much more into things looking as 'Natural' as possible or rich using more or less 'Natural' colors, like a number of Heida's shots...

Very nice. The textures are great. The best I have done with flowers is my entry for 'Something New II'. Having the same camera, I can really appreciate the trouble it can be to get things right. Again, nicely done.
