Went out to Ala Moana Beach Park one day to capture pictures for a challenge but couldn't get the shots I wanted since it was a weekday, the park was pretty empty. Instead, I ended up shooting many pictures of birds.

That's a crapload of birds and that's not even half of them... more like 1/3rd.

Then I spotted this creature.. he became my buddy.

Black-Crowned Night Heron.

He posed very well for me..

Next stop, the Paris.. I mean the Hilton..

I watched this little guy preen and preen, and then he preened some more..

Ducks are very clean creatures.. here's some of his buddies.

I guess 1 duck got thirsty..

Next on the tour were the (South African) Penguins.. yes, in Hawaii.

Ooh, that water feels good.. hey, stop that! That tickles... A few seconds later, the penguin keeper sprayed that yellow puddle off the rocks in the foreground.. Yes, that's penguin excrement but i'm not sure if it was #1 or #2. maybe a mixture of both? Couldn't tell.. didn't get to taste it. He wouldn't let me.

I turned around and happened to see this little bugger resting in the shade.. today was hot. His other buddies off-camera were napping. I decided sleeping ducks make boring pictures.

A few feet away from the sleeping ducks, were these sexy long-legged ladies.. Why the hell do they stank so much? Oh well, their smell kinda grew on me.. It sorta turned me on. Ok, not really.. but almost.

I thought parrots were cool.. no longer do I think so highly of them. These birds snobbed me and would turn around everytime I'd point the camera at them. I must've danced 12 circles around them trying to get a frontal shot. Here's one parrot flicking me off.. the bird gave me the bird, how do you like that?

F@#% you too.. I see you giving me stink eye..

Then we have a couple of lovebirds... Aawwww, don't you love happy endings? *tear*
