| Please can someone tell me if I can use 'Auto Levels' in AdobePhotshop for Basic Editing a photo? Thanks |

| You can use levels, curves...Hue/saturation/ unsharp mask and noise filters. |

| The Shadow/Highlight tool is an alternative to Curves--not as powerful but a lot easier to use. I think it would be legal as long as it is applied to the entire image (no selections!). |

| You can use auto levels, but you probably shouldn't. Do you think your computer knows what makes your photo look better? Do it manually, it's easy and you can control the results. |

I have found Auto-levels to be chancy at best. Maybe once out of twenty shots the computer figures out what levels are correct, the rest of the time I end up with crazy looking images and have to undo and do the levels myself anyway.
