But, here is the original photo of my Purple challenge entry.
It did better than I expected.
After being a member on this site for 10 months, I still don't understand the majority of people's taste in photography. I often rate only 1 or 2 of the top ten with a high score and end up giving the high scores to photos that a large majority thinks are average. This is just an observation I find interesting.
Although I really like this photo, I wasn't really expecting it to do as well as it did. I added the purple filter to it just so that I would have something to submit. I had tons of purple flower shots, but I DO know that flower pics don't do well on DPC.
I appreciate everyones comments during the challenge! It was my first time in the top ten and I thank you for your votes and for adding my photo to your Favorites. (:
Question for the SC: This being my first entry making it to the top ten, should I have received a notice for the original with EXIF??? |

I personally prefered the original, but of course that would not have doen well in a purple challenge.
When voting, I actually voted your shot as 6, to me, it was obvious that it had been coloured in PS which to me detracted from the picture.
The original is very nice though and would make a nice print

Congrats on your first Top Ten, I'm sure you'll have more. I think you have to crack the top 5 to get that automatic request for original file. Your entry is very well executed, including the color conversion to make it fit the challenge, but it is the type of shot most have seen before. Personally I like the original, full color shot, but that's just my taste. Glad it did so well for you. |
