Can i use a microscope and a camera and then submit it for a challenge?

Their are almost no rules regarding what you do when you TAKE the picture, as long as the actual image comes from a digital camera. All the problems arrive when you get the photo into photoshop!

As far as the editing portion of the rules go, any effect achieved in-camera is legal. The editing rules only effect what you can do after the image is captured.

Just be aware that such an image will most likely result in a proof request, so be sure to hang on to your original andf be ready to submit it if/when requested. This is something you should be doing anyway, so I would expect that shouldn't be a problem.
