I've noticed that my score goes up at night and down in the daytime. I think it has to do with people voting on their work computers (presumably not as highly calibrated as home computers). Anyone else notice this effect? (I'm on CST)

That's a possibility. I thought that same thing for a few challenges. Now, it's different everytime. I'll never figure out the voters. :D |

I think I have just submitted my best pic ever to the purple challenge and I have never gotten so many people saying they gave me 10's and how they hope I win a ribbon. Yet I have never had so many people leaving me 1's and 2's without leaving any comment at all. Are people maybe trying to keep my score lower in hopes that they get a ribbon for themselves? Or maybe my pic is a love it or hate it pic. My score keeps going up and down like a yo-yo but with the score it has now, it should be a top tenner. A ribbon would be nice though.
Has anyone else ever noticed the same thing happen to them?

I can't claim to have the high scores like you, but that may be the reason mine usually stay very constant during voting (except my Ad entry; that's driving me nuts). Maybe since mine doesn't pose a challenge, it doesn't get tinkered with as much. I would think if yours is getting those kind of great comments, it will still win out. GOOD LUCK!
Spelling edit.

I notice every challenge has a different pattern of voting. I had challenges where my votes got consistently lower during the night and go higher during the day and vice versa. The current Purple challenge for me has been the most stable, very small change from the start of voting to now. Something like 0.045.

Don't forget this is world wide not American and you should take time zones into consideration.
I find that mine do the same thing but I feel that its just the different audience... Not work or at home related. At least I hope not because our monitors at work stink and I'd hate to have mine voted on from anyones work computer.

If only I could vote at work, where I have a 22" LaCie Electron Blue CRT -- better the 15" Sony monitor I have at home at least for size!

That's odd. I consistently see my scores go down at night and up during the day.

Remember, things are just different. When you have night then other have daytime since the sun must be somewhere. People around the world have different taste for photos I think.
I refuse to believe that people who take great photos that can win a challenge are voting "against" other good photos. But perhaps some voters just vote some photos randomly but I think they are not posting any photos at all.
And I don't know why, my score usually go up most of the time. I think I just needed some 500 more voters to win the June Free challenge! Where I began around 5.2 but my final score was 5.599 |
