I was (and I am still) pleased with my entry. I really worked on it and do love my little bamboo that was taken care to be a model. The pic scored very low and I would appreciate some more comments on the entry to understant why it scored sow low. Thank you!

| I thought it showed some good creativity. I almost gave it higher, then I settled on a "6", mostly because I thought the roots detracted from the photo (they just seem too "ragged"). At the risk of having this said too many times- this site operates totally on the principle of what's popular, not necessarily on the principle of what is truly ideal. An analogy to politics - This is a Democracy, not a Republic. |

My feeling is that these challenges are really more of a popularity contest than a photo contest. Quite simply, the most popular photo wins. The photos that win may or may not be the 'best' photos in the challenge. By best I mean the ones that best meet the stated criteria for the challenge. Many times I believe they are, but not always in my opinion. In your case, as in all of mine and most others too, more people simply liked some other photo more than yours.
I wouldn't worry too much about it. I'm sure many people liked your photo. I know I do.

It's a nice shot that I would print if i took it, but there's so much competition in challenges.... although it's a nice photo, it doesn't relate any sort of message and for me, that's what effective art does: conveys a feeling, an emotion, a story, etc.

Sorry but this really does nothing for me. Sorry to say that I hope I don't hurt your feelings but best to be honest. To me it's quite insipid. There is no really dramatic or thought provoking thoughts, nothing aestheticaly pleasing and not basic enough to be simply simple.
What do you like about it and what made you shoot it, I think sharing these thoughts helps a lot sometimes?
The most important thing is that you like it however, who cares what everyone else thinks - if your getting enjoyment out of a picture then that to me is great stuff!
