cleaner. Looking for a good one to get rid of some lingering crap from unwanted apps. Anyone know a good FREE registry cleaner?

Spybot is another good one to use.

Adaware finds some things, Spybot finds others...

ive heard of spybot but does it clean the registry as well? How about the other one?

Spybot & AdAware will both clean registry entries for malware that they find on your system. They each seem to have their strengths, and I find it is best to run both.
For cleaning registry entries for non-spyware/adware programs, you'll need to look elsewhere. I don't have recent experience with other registry cleaners.

Hi Rooster,
I have been using Jouni Vuorio's RegCleaner 4.3 for some time now. It does a real good job of keeping my registry cleaned up. I don't know if the 4.3 is still out there as Freeware. I have the original download still if you want to try it. (540KB exe)

Things like AdAware and Spy Bot (which I use and like) don't clean the registry so much as remove software which "phones home" with your personal data and activities.

Hey Thanks everyone! I just did the clean up with spybot. I heard on WBAI that it was really good as well. I did have to restart my computer twice & it asked me to do it again but I will do that later.
Thanks again folks. You guys RAWK!
