Perhaps a photo that represents our military or our government as support of what so many are doing now to defend our country.

I'm not sure how well that would work on a worldwide site.

Tonight's "rockets red glare" isn't enough ...

I probably wouldn't enter this for two reasons - firstly I'm not American so I can't really see how I can take something that would fit the challenge. Secondly because there is no choice in this. I guess you could only get people submitting who choose to support the military - if you didn't agree with the topic then you wouldn't meet the challenge. If the topic wasn't so black and white I could see it getting interesting :)

Patriotism to me is love of country. It does not have to include the military though many Americans seem to equate the two. (not American and no offence intended)

Would a sprig of Wattle meet the challenge?

Risky challenge - easy for strong images to be offensive. Not a good idea in my view.

btw - whats a sprig of wattle, and what significance does it hold ?

Current challenge is phrased much better. And should be fun.

Taken today, buy may be too much like a flag.

Beer would be better :)

Falc - wattle is an Australian flowering tree. Here is some:

I was mostly commenting on what profile2004 said about taking "a photo that represents our military or our government". I think that's quite different to patriotism...

No thanks. Too USA-Centric. Think globally, act locally.

Beautiful isn't it. It is actually the national flower of Australia. It's also the reason Australia wear Green and Gold in sporting events including the Olympics. Nothing says "patriotism" more than the Olympics so why don't we dispense with the military and crap and suggest an Olympic challenge :)

Yeah, an olympic challenge would be fun :)
