I'm not complaining; I think the next challenge on Advertising will be fun. I'm just wondering why certain challenges are repeated when there's a list a mile long of potential challenge subjects. Anyone know how they are chosen? Or re-chosen? Again, just curious. ;-)

Actually I don't think the list really is that long.
I think I suggested Advertising a while ago because it was ages since the first one. By now hardly any of the original entrants are here, so it's practically a new challenge. :-D |

| I rather like revisiting some of the older challenges. Quite a lot of people join up and it's nice to see their version of a particular topic. |

Again, I'm not knocking the Advertising challenge. I'm already thinking of a few ideas. I just got to wondering how they were selected, that's all. Carry on!

Phudge, as soon as I see the challenge, I think about my new "Genuine Fake Rolex" that I bought in Turkey, and get excited about taking a pic of it...... until I look at the Advertisement challenge from before and see what the winning pic is....... Oh well, gotta find another idea.

In a more serious vein, I've never seen anything definitive about the selection process. I think the topics are taken from the suggestions made in these forums, which is fine. Repeating topics is fine too. But sometimes I get the impression that they are taken verbatim from a forum post without thinking about how they will be perceived by entrants, and which set of rules would be best. Several times the names and/or details have had to be re-written after the challenge has begun, and some suggestions that have made it thru the selection process are ... well, they just should have been weeded out. Sometimes reading the forums tells us that a more careful wording of the details would eliminate most of the disputes concerning what "fits the challenge". A group of SC members ought to go thru the list to cull out the weaker candidates, and tighten up the wording of the details for others.
