I go offline for one day and people start complaining about my response times! ;oP Fotowereld, I've added you to the CC, and you should have an explanatory email in your inbox...

Oh yes, YES, YES!!! (Can you tell I like this idea?)
There have been many a shot that comes up for critique but no comments from the photographer and I have to GUESS at what they were going for. I've been pretty lucky so far and only missed once I think but still it's so helpful to have them make a comment of their own, even if it's in the comments UNDER the shot with the other comments.

We can? I didn't know that because I have had several come up with N/A in the comment box and I have no idea what the shot is about or what they are looking for. How do we go about passing on one? Or should we just send them a PM asking for an explaination and make a post that we are waiting to hear back from them before we can finish the critique?

FYI, myself and Konador proposed an overhaul of the CC system to D&L a while back, but given the amount of coding involved, higher priority projects have meant that it was put on the back burner. If you're curious, the rough concept behind the proposal was to use a credit system to earn critiques by critiquing yourself.

I'm new to the CC and if you can point me to a thread that tells me how to pass I'd appreciate it. My experience after a few comments:
- It's really great when someone pm's me a Thank you after a critique -- very motivational (a "this was helpful" check -- when it is, of course, helpful would work too!!)
- I'd like to pass on a shot that in the competition I've given my comments and upon reflection I have nothing else to add. Another club member may be able to add new insights.
- Seeing the "32x photos awaiting critique" message go down each time I finish one is a itsy bit motivating but seeing it back to a number higher than the day before is quite demotivating. Can you just lie to us? ;)
- Is it okay to pass on folks that have a lot of comments that basically say all I could say? I feel I'm more summarizing the comments than adding anything of substance/new
- Is it okay to pass on folks that have never made comments on other folks shots? What I did was go into an editorial mode in the begining -- hopefully it's received in the best possible way.
- How you you make text bold or italiced?
Sheesh -- that's a lot of questions

I have a photo from the Waiting challenge that I marked as wanting to be critiqued, but I never received one... Is this just because of the backup, or did I fall through some deep, scary DPC crack, never to be seen again? ;) |

Which reminds me, the queue should be first in first out right? I have a feeling it's not. |

I think once the challenge is gone from the front page, those photos are purged from the CC queue, or they'd fall further and further behind. There are NEVER enough reviewers to review all the requests each challenge.
Also, I'm sure the CC members get the photos assigned randomly -- there is no "first in" to prioritize by. |

There are several changes already proposed for the CC structure and function. Those, along with many other changes, are waiting for the upgrade to the DPC Prints site to be finished before DPC itself gets an overhaul. |

ROFLMAO! I love it! I always put something in my comments box but usually only for the challenge entries. Just a bit of background info is all I put in there plus the steps taken to arrive at the final product you see.
I also like the idea that if you do not give the CC a starting point then you cannot get an in-depth review from the CC. Just my $0.02.
