I really goofed. I try to participate in all the challenges and this newest one I should of stayed out of and really want to unsubmit my entry....how do I do that?
First I have been busy with a new grandchild all week and secondly I am horrible on portraits and last of all I am just learning some techniques on ps. Last of all, I tried to put it all together the last hour of the submission deadline.
How can I unsubmit my entry? My entry is horrible!!!!!!
thanks,

Once voting has begun, an entry cannot be unsubmitted. Sorry, but you'll just have to tough it out through the week.

I suppose if it really bothers you, you could turn of the scores and comments.

Is it really so "horrible?" After a quick breeze through the thumbs I didn't see anything that I would call horrible. I held back and didn't submit any I'd shot, but I think I learned a great deal about lighting and the many details that go into studio portraiture. Perhaps this can be a good chance to see if your own (harsh?) criticism of your work is in line with others....and this is from a survivor of a creative writing degree where everything one pens is under the microscope.

Don't feel bad, I'm going to have the brown ribbon but you know what? I don't care! I love my shot, it's a nice shot and I had fun! Don't worry about it too much, it's a great learning experience. ;)

And THAT is what it's all about!! Best of luck to both of you... I hope you do better than you expect. And remember, if you had fun and like your pictures, that picture will still be important to you and your loved ones long after placings are forgotten. I saw a lot of thought and work involved with the portrait entries.

Thanks everyone for the support. It really is baaaadddddddd.
At any rate maybe I will be saved from embarassment because the shot has been recommended for disqualification. I never thought I could be happy over a dq.

Ah, but if the photo is legal, it still stays in. But don't worry, I have a suspicion that my score will be more horrible than your's ... and if people at least comment you'll get useful information -- and maybe some you don't already know.

Besides ... this is the first time in weeks I'll have a top-100 finish :)

Don't worry, everyone will get at least one comment on their portrait shot! I have a crappy score and only three comments. And with only 94 entries, I'm a little dissapointed. So... I pledge to comment as constructively as possible on every shot entered!

And I'll be right behind ya! I figure I gotta good shot at top 94 this time...

make that twho. I didn't enter, but I took it upon me to comment on each picture. Want to have done it once, and this challenge with so few entries is off course perfect for it. I'm at 57% now.

If you've got a DQ request just don't reply and you'll get DQd. Simple. Just remember to post your shot after just for a laugh! :)

IMHO that would go against the true spirit of the site and also IMHO would really kinda suck...

We are probably going to implement some scoring penalties to discourage this form of dishonesty.

I think in the spirit of the site I was actually trying to limit the mental trauma for one of its members and would not recommend it as a habitual form of self-abuse!!

:)

Accepting criticism and learning from one's mistakes should not be mental trauma. If they are, then not submitting is the appropriate response, not compounding the problem with a truly emotionally traumatic ethical dilemma. But I'll appreciate that you're trying to help :)

TooCool and GenE, I do agree with you - but I'm sure many people have been in this situation and quite honestly, one does not learn a great deal when you're obviously aware that your shot was poor! But you're right to suggest that it's all part of learning etc.

I s'pose I just stated the obvious...

Gotta love it! Nope Deanna I will get the brown but what fun I had.

I think after about the first month of entering on this site I learned to go out on the limb and try things and that̢۪s what I have enjoyed most. I learn from every challenge! This time I entered sickly for the comments not the score and I have gotten great comments. Many make me smile. I know you can't touch everyones heart but when I get a genuine response (and I have) it makes it was worth the effort.
