A quick question- is the nik 7 upgrade worth the extra 159$
what is your favorite suite of plugins? for general use-portraits, landscapes etc.
TIA

Ha! I'm still using the Nik suite that was given away for free by Google when they bought Nik for the technology.
I'm building a new computer and may consider the update if the new suite has features worth the price. Not even sure if I am going to upgrade my Corel PSP from the 2018 version, though.
I used to use Topaz plugins, but shifted to Nik quite a few years ago. I use Luminar Neo for my RAW editing and have bought a couple of their plugins. Some other plugins of theirs interest me, but they are subscription model, which I'm not getting into if I have options.

I'm also still using the free version. Probably not so smart considering that I'm paying a monthly subscription for Photoshop. |

I'm still using the free version also (although it doesn't work anymore with my newer computer).
As to having both Nik and Photoshop ... I'd still keep both as Nik offers abilities that Photoshop probably doesn't (I'm not 100% certain as I use PSP). |

What about your new PC is incompatible with it? I'm presently building a new PC. |

I keep mine upgraded and have never regretted it. It keeps getting incrementally more sophisticated and capable. For example, the U-Point technology used to work only on a circular field, now you can define the shape you want to affect.

I love NIK. I am currently trialing the most recent version and I suspect I'll update at the end of the trial.
In terms of others, I also really like Topaz for Denoise and Sharpening. |

I might have to do it too. |

I love NIK. I used the old versions until it was not compatible with PS/LR. I then waited a bit until Dxo had an offer and did not hesitate to get it (version 6). No regrets! |

Hi Steve - Wish I knew. I've compared them several times and just looked again to see if I could document something for you.
Both computers are running Windows 10 Home, 64-bit, with PSP Ultimate 2023.
There's some difference in the hardware of course ... sorry, didn't document that. |
