Sounds like it will be a very capable system, Steve. I'm looking forward to upgrading my laptop in about 1.5 to 2 years, and the way things are going I will see a huge performance boost when I do. I'm hoping that by then I can go with a 4TB data drive at reasonable cost. Right now I have 1TB boot and 2TB data, and the 2TB drive is about 60% full (!). |

Trying to decide on the GPU now, but there is precious little information on what features and how much power are useful to photo editing software, or what is the point of diminishing returns. Most GPU reviews and advice are oriented to gamers. |

Some discussion in this thread on FM. They are focusing on higher-end cards, but the thread is almost a year old. Seems that Adobe is recommending a card with Tensor cores for best performance of their AI-powered features. With Nvidia, there are two paths, either the gaming-oriented GeForce cards, or the workstation-oriented RTX cards. Here is a comparison table for the GeForce cards, and here is one for the RTX cards.
It's really hard to find any information on cost/performance relationship for the GeForce vs RTX series for non-gaming applications. The RTX series prices get eye-watering, but they are geared towards high-end professional content creation tasks. |
