You've got it backwards. "Meh" gets high votes and interesting gets downvoted. Your shot was interesting. |

the voters wanted a glass with water in it.
you gave them a photo of water in the shape of a glass. they couldn't handle it. |

Yeah — I just didn’t get that one. What do you see in it? There’s a lot of his work that I can meld with, but this one I couldn’t.
It was beginning to worry me that my tastes were becoming more eclectic. That, paired with you giving me a 9 on my legs entry, made me think it might be the beginning of the apocalypse. But now that I can̢۪t figure our jmritz̢۪s photo restores some of my faith in the world. ;). |

I liked the idea on this one a lot. I think it would have worked better with less thigh and more calf/shoe to really frame in the shot and perhaps a less busy background ? not 100% - it took me a bit to ‘find the shot’ and figure out what I was looking at. |

It's more apt to ask what do I not see.
Notice that the subject, the challenge topic, exists by not existing. It is simply black. We only "see" it by its dramatic effect on everything else, almost covering it. That everything else is small and obscure. As fleeting as ... well, a runner's leg.
And notice the white line on the bottom of the frame, reminding us that the photo itself barely exists, can barely be called a photo.
Art does that sometimes, takes us to the very edge. And yes, in the process, it risks being garbage, and to many here, that's what this photo is. But risk makes the artist vulnerable, and that makes the art interesting.

Thanks. One of the biggest problems was that I viewed it on my ipad, and I couldn't see the leg. It looked like it was taken from a car window, and that didn't make any sense/link to the challenge. Now it makes more sense. |
