Hi
I am thinking of pursuing MBA from American university. I intend to apply in either year 2006 or 2007 , I know it is like two years from now, but I am one of those people who do their homework before and be pre pared before I venture out i.e I actually apply.

I am totally unaware as regards to on what criteria do top American business school take their decision for giving admission to a student.
I mean if one of you were to do same thing as I am doing, what would you do to make sure that your application stands out.

I am good at some sports like say badminton, some other stuff, so does having extra curricular activities help in admission. I have good work experience and will have a lot in 2-3 years, like having an online business, being consultant on garment export business, etc. I was thinking would it help my application if write articles on subject of my interest that are than published in magazines, newspapers etc, will that help.

Can members guide me

Some schools will let in anyone that is willing to pay tuition. Degrees from these schools usually aren't worth all that much on a resume.

The better schools are looking for people that will finish the program and will do well after the program (which makes the school look good). Prove that you finish what you start and you are a successful person and you will get in no problem. You may also need to take the GMAT test and do well on it to be accepeted.

thanks for reply, i wont go to business school that just acept me based on the fact i pay them tution fee , plenty of them in India , thought we have 3 world class business institution which i would love to go to but issue in india is that people strangely do graduation and do masters in business admintrtion almost in a year or two of their graduation without much work experince, while what i have been told average student age of MBA in west is say 29-30, which i feel is great for me, i turn 25 this year and i won't like to do masters before 2006.

Good choice!

I'd say it's better to get out and work a bit, then go back and get your masters. All that schooling and no experince makes you over qualified and under experienced for most jobs.
Also, get a job at a bigger company and they will pay your tuition for you when you go back.
My company will pay my tuition and give me 100 shares of stock when I graduate (currently trading about $50/share)
