Hi-ho,

I'm wondering if anyone has experience of the G3/G5 wide angle converter? The canon part# is WC-DC58N.

I'd be interested in the level of barrel distortion, any extra extra abberations etc. (above the G5's normal problems at F/2-F/4 with purple fringing that is)

I'd like to get a bit wider than 35mm equiv on my G5, and this looks like a good option but I've not found anything more than the bare specs for the lens on the web. A link to a review would be handy if anyone has one...

Cheers, Me.

Bump :-)...

There must be someone on the site with one of these? Or maybe the TC-DC58N? (Tele converter).

I have both.

The workmanship and packaging is first rate. Both come with a little pouch that is big enough to hold the converter and bayonet adapter (I highly recommend getting a dedicated adapter for each converter you get).

The wide angle converter gets a bit "fuzzy" towards the edges of the picture at a 100% crop, but it's not really noticible once you resize for the web.
You can see examples of the wide angle in use in my following pics:

and the teleconverter in:

Hope this helps!

Arrr, thanks for that..

I'd not managed to find anything 'real' in terms of info on the web, the canon website is a little light on information, and the only comments I'd found in forums were negative ones.

I've already picked up one of the bayonet-58mm adaptors, and I might look into the wide adaptor first, as that's the end of the zoom scale that the G5 is lacking for the moment.

Thanks, Chris.

Edit: Typo.
