These are two images which I felt better fitted the challenge description than my submission but I just wasn`t sure they had enough going for them (especially the first shot)

The third picture is the same as my submission but one which I cropped slightly differently (which some commenters had advised would have improved my original).

I would be very grateful for any comments as I really had difficulty deciding which would be best..overall the B/W was my favourite.

Thanks,
Gordon

The B/W would also be my favourite of these Gordon: it has both foreground and distance interest, to me, although there is to my eye a slight imbalance in the composition - think i'd have tried to get the swans into bottom left of frame, to better belance the castle's silhouette in top right; that balance is stronger in the shot with the foreground reeds, I think.

Thanks for the input Ed and I agree with the point you are making..I have some other shots which do this..however, as you may notice, the pathway around the loch comes into play and there were several people coming into shot which produced distractions..should have gone at 5 in the morning as the twisty pathway with no-one on it would have been a great addition.

Ah yes. 'Should have gone at 5:00a.m.' might perhaps be my epitaph.
