I'm very happy. This is what the challenges are all about....I FINALLY got a photo that I think looks like what I saw in my "head" and was hoping to achieve. Not only that, but the vast majority of what I was shooting to enter the challenge, I ended up liking a lot.

I hope it does do well in the scoring and I am anxiously waiting for "waiting" to begin - but I am really happy with the shots no matter what!

I'm not very happy, I wasn't able to gather the resources for the shot in my head, however I still ended up with a ferw possibilities and have entered my favorite, I'm looking forward to seeing everyone elses submissions.

j, congrats! That's a great feeling, ain't it?
I too am very happy with my shot. I orignally wanted to enter it in teh deep dof challenge but realised it was much better for this upcoming challenge.

Can't wait myself? is it 12am yet?

I had two completely different ideas for my entry, both difficult to get. The first I got early in the week and submmited. The Second, I have been trying to get all week, it kinda depends on nature to help me out. So far, no luck. I am happy with the first, I just wanted more choices.
Good Luck to all!

I feel good this time about a challenge because I am having the sense to not enter something just to enter!!! The compulsion was overcome at last!I had a couple of fairly good ideas (IMHO), but wasn't able to execute them in a quality way. So I will just enjoy all of yours. I have a feeling this will be a really great collection of photos (as is DDOF).

For the first time, I really had some amazing ideas. Truly 'visions' of things I wanted to stage for this challenge, but none of them materialized, so I took a mediocre photo that I'm hoping will break 5.0. You win some, you lose some. :)

I WAS quite happy with my shot, too. Then my 25 year old son told me he thought it sucked (aren't kids great?). So, I decided not to enter it. Then last night I entered it anyway - guess I'll see if he was right!

That's what's happened to me, and my daughter has always been right!!Actually, I did shoot two of my ideas and I realy learned a lot (of how NOT to do something), but once again, the family just grimaced. But I also knew they weren't what I was hoping for, so somebaody remind me of this if I weaken the minute before entries close!!!

My question now it this....I like this whole set of photos so much, I might also enter one from the series in the "free study" challenge. It will be obviously from the same photographer / set of photos. Do you think that would affect the score? I'll probably enter anyway, but I was curious what people thought.

My very favorite from the series required just a bit of touch up cloning to get rid of some minor problems in the photo, so I can't enter it in the open challenge.

I have seen lots of ideas used that probably stemmed from an earlier challenge. Especially with a whole month to take and submit "your best", I would think many will be outtakes from challenge entries for one reason or another. I wouldn't score them any lower. (Although I did have the same thought myself -- I like some I took for "transportation", but figure everyone will be sick of things that move!).

This shouldn't be a problem at all, Judy. In the March Free Study there were several pictures that one could see came from the same group of photos as one of the other challenges. Since the Free Study is a Member challenge there doesn't seem to be the as much "mean" voting as in the open challenges.

Yeah if they ever figure out what "move" means. (The constant bickering reminds me of the infamous what "is" is.)

You know, Kylie, I think you might as well enter your picture. It doesn't really matter if it does super well. Some people get obsessed with high scores but it really is about having fun. Some of the highest scores I've had were from pictures that I didn't really think would do well at all!

I really do agree with what you are saying . . . I have no problems with the couple I have entered that I honestly liked, flawed and all. But on the other hand, I am sort of ashamed of my 3's entry and my team sports one. I should have thought those out better. I hardly ever break 5, so I am not very score anxious!! I am learning, though, what makes a snapshot vs. a true photograph, and slowly but surely, I will get there I hope. I jsut have to take more time with it. But thanks!

Now I've done it. I've changed my entry to a different shot. ~sigh~ I think it's really easier when you only have one you like! However, I was having so much trouble deciding, I emailed them to my daughter at work and asked her to help me choose. I sent 4 possible entries and she asked about 8 people in her office what they thought. They ALL listed one particular shot as a favorite, so I guess that should tell me something. So now I'll have to wait a week to start my "outtakes" thread! :)

At least you have a party of judges!!!! I am left to my own devices, which are pretty poor!! I can't make choices for my life, so it's really bad if I actually think I may have two decent ones. I feel your pain!! LOL

Wooohooo...just submitted my shot! Not sure how it will do. I like it but that doesn't always mean the voters will.

Good luck, folks!

didn't even realise I had a shot until about two hours ago ... was just skimming the shots from the weekend when I thought 'oh, they look like they're waiting for something' about a particular image ...

Bound to bomb, given that, really :-)
