I just noticed today that since I purchased my D70 and posted entries using this camera, I placed 5 out of 6 times in the Top 10. And I won my two ribbons courtesy of the D70.
Now, I guess I can be a good spokesman for D70? Unfortunately, I am still a hit-and-miss person (mostly misses).
I am curious about the others? |

I think it has more to do with your talent :)

Moving to Thailand or Iceland will give me better results :P Nothing but trees here in Tampa.
I placed 4th with my 2MP Sony Mavica in the "Window View" challenge, and 2nd with my 300D in "Where You Live". The 300D is definitely better, but like I implied above, it depends on the subject you photograph.

I think I have it backwards..LOL...my highest rated photograph was taken with the Kodak DX4900, the second highest with the Minolta Dimage 7i and the 3rd highest with the Digital Rebel. However, I haven't even been close to top 10.

I agree, Ben. I was sure that when I got my Digital Rebel I was going to be a better photographer and knock all of my highest rated photos off of my profile page and replace them with Digital Rebel photos. Well, that didn't happen yet. My profile is still full of G2 photos that remain my highest rated photos.
I think the reason people often do better with new cameras is because when they first get them it is a new toy and they try different things because it is new.
I agree that it is talent, not the camera. You can take good compositions with a Polaroid camera (granted the quality isn't there).
Anyway, just thought I would throw my 2 cents in. :)
Hope everyone has an excellent Tuesday!

Given a certain level of quality, it's simply a matter of being in control of the thing, as far as dpc is concerned. Contolling a 2MP compact can be trickier than controlling a dslr - knowing where to meter in frame and recompose, especially for high-contrast scenes, is an art.
I still carry my 2800 a lot, and it has given me my second-highest rated shot ever. The greater majority of my best shots are with the 5400, but then the grater majority of my entries have been with that.

Talent is definitely key - Moving to a D70 hasn't stopped me from taking bombers. I have noticed that my ratio of "keepers to bombers" has improved though. I'm sure I've been improving in parallel with the camera so it's hard to say whether its the gear or me, but I feel like the D70 has made it much easier to capture the scene I envision.
Of course numbers speak also. My most recent submission is my first with the D70 and it's hovering around a 6.2. That's pretty much a full point higher than my norm. |

I've had my Rebel for over a month, but I'm still posting pictures from my Olympus C-740. I think I need a better lens, other than the kit lens, before I submit pictures using the Rebel. |
