Some of the most popular dSLR at DCP are surely the Canon and the Nikon. But what do some of you think of the Pentax *ist D?
I'm already using a Pentax Point and shoot and I shot Pentax Reflex in the past and really liked it.
Anyone has a point of view on that Camera?
Why I ask, because, like many of you probably read at DPReview, Pentax will come out with a lower end dSLR and was wondering how will it compare.

Actually the Pentax *ist D is one of my favorite choices when upgrading. I like the lighter weight but still have the abilites of the big boys. I believe it also has the most lenses that are compatible with it.
The ratings seem to be very favorable, but the only problem is the price point. I'm just hoping with all the lower prices of some dSLR camera and the upcoming releases of new dSLRs ,that the price will come down to match.

I've got the *ist D and love it. The light frame makes it especially attractive to me since I shoot mostly sports and have to traverse the field(s) many times during games. The majority of my accessories are Pentax as well (AF-360FGZ flash, FAJ 18-35). My one complaint (other than the stupid name) is the CF card...it's tough to get out.
I was at a wedding this weekend and the "professional" photographer seemed a bit jealous. He kept wanting to play with the camera, etc...made me feel good :) |

I met a photographer last month who was shooting with Pentax *ist D and asked why he chose it and how he liked it. He said it was because he had plenty of Pentax glass from days he shot Pentax film cams. He also told me he absolutely loves the camera.
Does anyone know how good the Pentax lenses are? Is there a good choice of Pentax glass? |
