Can someone xplain the differences in the metering modes for the rebel. xamples would be most xcellent.
When do you use each mode, what effects does it create, etc...? All the important stuff.
Thanks for filling in a clueless one!

If you're asking about the differences between centerweighted, partial and matrix what they determine is what part of the scene your camera will be metering off of and if the computer in camera is making the decisions as to exposure.
In centerweighted, the meter reading is taken from about 80% of the middle of the viewing frame. In partial, which in a Canon is about 9.5%, it's taking the meter reading from the center circle in the viewfinder. In matrix, the camera takes meter reading from the different areas and then the computer in your camera compares it with a big library of similar scenes stored in it's chip to determine the exposure.
I hope that helps. |

I was able to go through the lessons and I haven't paid anything. Where did you run into problems?

I clicked on the lessons & all I got was description of the lesson. What did you do to get thru?
O, thanks!
If I choose the partial & choose one of the other AF points instead of the centre one, what will happen?
What do you shoot in? Will the matrix make the deep dof challenge better?

This was spot metered on the brightest spot on the statue:
1. Because being in the sun it was so bright
2. To darken the background for that glow like effect.
Spot metering darkened the statue so that the details were visible but darkened the rest of the shot as a result.
If I had used pattern it would have sampled the surrounding areas and lightened the picture up as a whole and the statue would have been too bright. |

Rooster- click on the name of a lesson to open the first page. Click on the numbers at the bottom of the resulting pop-up window to see subsequent pages. This is good stuff- thanks, Justine! |

I couldnt see the numbers on the bottom. I had to get rid of the start bar to see it.
Does anyone know how I can copy the text so I can print it out?
