Actually, if you look at results from the 6D sensor, you'll find it is *just* like that. Awesome sensor.

No kidding huh? Neato. No color splotching at high ISOs, banding of luminescence noise or color noise, nada?

If so, I'd be super impressed and wouldn't hesitate to recommend that body.

ETA:

WOW. That's a ridiculous sensor. Why did they put that beauty in such a shitty package????

Now, after that expedition, I will say that if you can live without basic amenities like running water and electri.. Wait. I mean external knobs, and handy buttons to push, then yeah. I'll begrudingly admit that purchasing the 6D isn't at ALL a bad choice from a sheet image quality standpoint - and for the money, you can probably live with the 'crappy' body, unless you do stupid things with your camera..

Been following along a bit... if I were to go with the 6D, would I be disappointed with the speed of the autofocus? I tend to shoot a lot of street shots, or used to anyway. I like to shoot from the hip, and quickly.

Another question (and Robert can probably help here), my beloved 10-22 won't work on a 6D - I'd need a new wide angle. Suggestions?

I actually quite like the 70D - I've borrowed Johanna's twice and it's got some nice features. I like the rotating screen for one thing, and I do use the pop-up flash now and again.

@ Melethia I did (some) street with the 6D. The center cross type AF point is awesome. But only that one...

The 10-22 won't work.

Yep. Do look at the 80D, however. It seems to be a good performer.

Is there anything I'd miss on the 80D that I currently have with the 7D? I'm beginning the think the 6D is more (and less) than what I need/want.

Tibi, you still have your 6D, yes? I'm assuming you shoot with it, even though you seem to use your S7 more (I use my S6 quite a lot as well!) Would you trade for a different model if you could?

Yes I have it and I use it. It's perfect for me at this point. No GAS is kicking in so I am all good.

I do not know much about the dual digits series (70D, 80D) but I would not trade me 6D for one.

Good info, thanks. I'll take a longer look at the differences. It may turn out the dual digit series is good enough for me. Or I may just upgrade to the 6D. :-)

I'm glad is clear for you now LOL

Shit the 6D has that? I LOVE the limiters on the 1DmkIV, is it just shutter, or can you limit the ISO and Aperture as well? Also, can you set max values too, or is it just minimum limit?

I'm more certain than not that there are limiters are for ISO, shutter and aperture. I'll throw my 135L on then set it to auto ISO and limit the min shutter at 1/250 and never get any camera shake.

Canon's 16-35mm f/2.8L is wonderful. That's what I used with the 5D2. The 17-40 f/4L is pretty decent, but I traded mine for the 16-35 when I had the chance.

I bought the Canon EF 16-35mm f/4L IS Outstanding. Reviews say that if you don't need to freeze action (F2.8) this is the one!
Very light and IS.

Review

This time I have to disagree with you Robert. Imo 16-35 f2.8 is one of worst Canon lenses (considering its cost) and f/4 version is much better. Sharpness and coma at the borders is awaful. I'd say that you can't use it for certain night shots and wide open is often a mediocre lens.

f/4 version is much better.

Thanks Tiberius. I am sure I will definitely enjoy it.

Would love to keep the 70D as a backup or at least until I get some longer lenses for the 6D which may be a while as that's all my photography spending for a while:)

Welcome to Team 6D! You will enjoy it. It gets knocked for some "missing features" but in reality it is a very user-friendly package. Even if I upgrade this year to the 5D Mk IV, I will be keeping the 6D body.

Yes Margaret I did think there was quite a lot of PP going on there. I did really like the winning photos though.

It wasn't a criticism, I think PP is a very important of photography. The images should be made, not just captured :)

Totally agree and I know I should spend more time on the PP side of things but work and family life always seems to get in the way.
