What a weekend...I got a Canon 300D kit, 75-300mm lens, a few uv filters and a new camera bag. I feel like I got the best parents in the world.
Can anyone suggest any other things I might need?

Have fun with your new toy.. I think you'll agree its quite an upgrade from a digi compact

A good tripod will improve the quality of your photosso much that you'll think "boy how did I ever shoot pictures without one"
