I've looked online and can't seem to find an answer to this. Is there a hotkey for rotating brush tips in CS6? I know you can open the brush submenu and change the angle, but that's so cumbersome to do every time you want to change the direction of the brush...

Why don't you create some custom Actions for the ones you use most?

Yeah... I'll have to first learn how to create actions.... :)

Besides, wouldn't that be brush specific? I want something that would rotate any brush

Even I can do that!

Not sure if it would be brush-specific -- probably depends where you stop the process ... not sure if I can check on my version of PS ...

Customize it rotating the brush and save the new preset. If you use that brush a lot, save the four angles. I don't think you can have a shortcut to do what you want.

ETA: It looks like you could write a script to do what you want (or almost anything else) -- check out the documentation in the Scripting Guide folder inside the Photoshop application folder.
