Hello everyone..

I tried some stop motion water shots, and I'd appreciate any critiques, good or bad :-)

Thanks, Dan.

Gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous. The abstract quality of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th shots is exquisite. Don't change anything I guess, and keep on shooting. These pictures are something to emulate. Hope you enlighten us regarding your settings.

very different!! my favs is the last 1...my least favorite is the 1st one bridge maybe I would like it more if the background was a little more solid.. ...
I am impressed at the clearity, quality, and focus of capturing the water flowing as if it was a video or live cam only on pause....
Gotta love technology!

Thanks for the feedback..

The method I used for the abstract shots is to use a telephoto lens (300mm) and get as close to the action as possible. Has the sidebenefit of blurring the background the closer you are, and the aperture is always going to be wide open at these shutter speeds.

Another trick I used, is to use ISO 1000 for most of the shots, lets me shoot a lot faster of course, and the grain is barely noticeable (Incredible really, if I use ISO 800 on my coolpix, the image is barely usable).
