I was just wondering if anyone else here has had their picture DQ'd after receiving no emails or warnings?? I'm sure it got sent, like Drew says, but I never got it. No warning...no nothing. I was just curious if anyone else had this happen? Maybe the emails to submit original photos are getting lost in email purgatory! :) |

usually if you dont get an email bc of spam or something there is a note from the admins by your scores or where your score would be if you entered a challenge. If you log in during the time of the request, you can see that you are being asked for a proof.
I have had a request b4 but I am addicted to this & got the email & saw the note by my scores.

It is possible the email is getting deleted by mistake. The email starts with the words 'Response required', which is a very common theme for the spam and virus emails that try to get opened due to a false urgency.
If this is the case, just put dpchallenge.com in the email filter as a known good sender and you should get all messages from the site.

Do you happen to know if the note from the admins requesting the proof is still shown if the scores are turned off?

I got a request for proof on the Multiple Sources of Light Challenge.
Got the e-mail AND when I logged in to the site, there it was in red on my home page beside my scores.
Sent it in and within 24hrs had a note posted the next time I logged in indicating that the entry had been validated.
Found the whole process quite efficient actually. |

'Urro
If you're talking about multiple light there have been 3 images vanish that I've noticed, two of which I thought might be DQ'd, and one I didn't suspect at all. Not sure you can tell without admin access who owned the images though. |

It really is necessary to make sure that your e-mail is set up not to throw messages from the site council into the junk bin, for just this reason. That happened to a few people, which is why we implemented the feature bongo mentions about it showing up in big red letters on your home page.
The site council tries to be really flexible, which is why even after not getting a response from you and DQ-ing your photo, we still let you send in an original. But the image you sent had no EXIF data, so it remained DQ'd. Had you been able to provide that, it would have been reinstated, no problem.

kudos to the webteam for the red notification on page after login...very smart. I'm wondering why the mail still uses the subject "response required" if it's a known issue. I'm sure the spammers are taking this into account, couldn't the dq emails be a little more tailored and to the point...uh, maybe..."Photo info needed"?

We could certainly ask Drew and Langdon to rework the message, but the fact is, no matter how we rework it, some user or users will have the problem of an overly agressive spam filter deleting their messages, or will accidentally delete the message without opening it as they go through and delete their spam.
It is important that everyone entered in a challenge do the following:
1. Be sure your email address on file with us is correct.
2. If your spam filters move questionable messages to a "junk" or "spam" folder, carefully check that folder for messages from DPChallenge before emptying it.
3. Log into the site at least once every 1-2 days, at least to check the main page. If there is a pending proof request, it will show on that page.
