How about a challenge where we take all of the blue ribbon winning photos in a given period of time (say for the year of 2003) and just vote on them with no consideration as to theme topic. Or maybe pick an all-time great photo for DPC. Maybe it could be done for all ribbon winners in a given period of time. Don't know if that would interest anybody.

That would be a fun idea, and even though its not a challenge where people would submit their own photos, It would be cool to be able to vote. The only problem is there are going to be so many high scores, and it's going to be really close. They might have to change the voting standards to create a new rubric. that might help with voting.

Maybe a 1-100 voting scale would be applied. I would like to see that instituted for current weekly challenges.

Personally, I think a non-anonymous vote is not meaningful.

Besides, we already do this with all photos. The winner is the one that has the most favorites.

To me, I think putting a photo in your favorites is the best compliment, and best vote of all. (So while I don't send email thank yous, as I see some people do, I'll take this opportunity to say thanks to those who have added my photos to their favorites.)

I think that having a 1-100 during weekly challenges would get out of hand. Plus, past scores would have to be changedto match with the new ones. If it was only used for the super bowl challenge, it probably would make it more interesting.

And what about the ranking by score, which is also already done. I'm under the impression that scores have been trending downward since DPC began, but maybe there's a statistics geek out there who could figure out a way to normalize them.

Now I've heard the idea of a DPC invitational, open only to previous ribbon winners, and I think that's a great idea - I'd love to see the photos from that. But it would have to be new photos so that it stayed mostly anonymous.
