Ever since I got my D800, I've had the WEIRDEST shit go down. I have a feeling it could just be one single problem causing all of these maladies, but who even knows what.

So, anyway, with my 50mm 1.8, it always front focuses. Not correctable with microadjust, because each focus point has different levels of focusing issues.

HOWEVER, when using test charts, the focus issues disappear. It seems focus fine on one kind of test chart: the Siemens star chart. Any other subject or test chart it front focuses on consistently. I know that optical AF isn't very accurate, but the thing is, it's front focusing very accurately indeed. Each time focus is off by the same amount.

Anyone ever encounter anything like this? Is this just normal stuff? Am I taking CRAZY PILLS or something here?

Have you tried cleaning the contacts...?

Yes m'am, first thing I tried. They didn't seem dirty but I ran a lens cloth over them.
