Why wont photoshop allow me to save duotone images in j-peg??? I'm positive other people do it all the time here! Whenever I add a duotone, the menu only gives me various photoshop and RAW files as ways to save it.
Sorry, breathing.
Any advice? |

After making a duotone, I think you have to convert the image back to RGB before you can save as JPG.

Thanks, just tried it and it works. Must check back through the tutorial and see if it mentions that little tidbit.
Thanks again,

It's because duotones are normally used in print using two 'spot colours' which need to separate when output. Photoshop retains the PostScript information to do this in the duotone format, which is not supported in JPEG. |

instead of converting and image into duotone, you canachieve the same effect with the colorize option of hue and saturation adjustment.. it is much more flexible.. colorize button is in the right bottom corner of hue and saturation adjustment menu.. good luck..

You can also try experimenting with the Color Balance and Gradient Map adjustment layers. Very versatile. Also, try creating a new layer above your image, fill it with a chosen colour and then use the 'Color' blend mode. |

if it is more flexible than why it wont let you save as jpeg :P.. just joking..the reason i think hue and saturation colorize option is more flexible and easier.. because you dont have to go throught he colkor picking process or anything.. and you get to see what is happening in real time.. just my 2 cents...
