I agree redwinged blackbird!!The tricolored blackbird has a red and white patch while the redwing blackbird has a red or red and yellow patch!Great shot!

I had one of those dive bombing me Saturday. I must have been too close to the nest. I never saw the nest, so that is just a guess. Everytime I turned my back on the black bird it would fly right by my ear. The funny part is, I've been trying to get a picture for months but they were always too far away, or moved to soon. I did end up with a couple good shots finally, but not with the DOF that you achieved. Nice shot.

they are great birds actually... near my house they will often land on your shoulder or hand (esp if you have food :) )

Here is a picture of my buddy.

I don't think he was trying to land on my shoulder, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and take some goodies next time. He is hanging out at the Ranger station in the park, so he might be use to handouts and flying close to people.
