No it's that others don't vote the same way they do. |

You have demonstrable proof to support this claim?
I would love to see that.

I'm trying to figure out if anyone has a higher ratio of ribbons to whiny posts about low scores than her.

There's no need for that, we're not to call out names apparently. What I do want to know is why some people comment but never vote? This is easy to spot when that one person is the only comment on a photo and the score given is 0.00. I don't understand! |

This is a great question, why is it people can take the time to comment but not click a button on the way out?
Is it really that hard and or time consuming to vote? |

I say if you enter a challenge and do not vote on 80% of the field you lose a full point.
So if you have a 6.4 and don't have enough votes in you end up with a 5.4.
This new rule shouldn't bother people who don't vote because they obviously don't care about votes. |

I like to comment and include a number, I then vote a different number.
Its all good clean fun. |

Bad idea as I rarely vote on challenges that I enter. Recently I have been and not sure if I will continue, mostly because I have entered almost everyone the last few weeks. |

I will sometimes comment then go back and vote later. Or......vote and a few days later come back and comment. Sometimes.........I will comment while voting. |

No need for names. Simply provide us with information as to just how you arrived at the conclusion you did.
Take the time to check out my voting average and the number of challenges I have bothered to enter. Once you have done so, please tell me just how you arrive at the conclusion that I would have voted higher in those challenges I had not entered merely to improve my voting average.
If you have proof of what you are advancing, then simply report it. You most definitely are not doing anyone any favours by casting aspersions on people like myself that tend to vote a great deal but enter few challenges.
It may not have been your intention, but I do feel slighted by your comment as it suggests an ulterior motive to my voting pattern and average score given.

I gotta say I always find these threads (and they happen all the time) to be nothing short of bewildering. I have honestly never felt the urge to vote differently in a challenge depending on if I was an entrant or not. And I certainly never felt the need to improve my vote given. Why? For what purpose? Who are you trying to impress? Even if you're trying to improve your odds of ribboning by the way you vote it's not like anyone outside of the DPC community gives a crap about the virtual ribbon you've won on some website they've never heard of.
I've never heard of magazine editors scouring this website for fresh talent to hire..... |

Can I ask why you don't vote on challenges you enter?

Am I the only one that thinks voting is important?
Without votes this place is nothing more than Flickr.

I don't know, just feels like I am voting against myself and lets face it........while I participate here to get me to shoot other stuff or the same stuff in different ways, and to learn..................I still want to win, or get as high a place/score as I possibly can. There are ties and there are times when .0001 is the difference. What if I missed a ribbon by .0001 and the photo that beat me I gave a 10 to? I would be upset, I will not lie................so, I typically do not vote in challenges that I enter. Been trying to do it more because I do feel that voting is important. Trust me, I will post a bitching thread if the before mentioned ever happens to me. |

And yet, based on your honest opinion, the "better" photo would have won. To have won by giving the other photo less than you thought it deserved would be cheating ...
This is why, if one cannot vote honestly on other photos without regard for the effect on one's own entry, refraining from voting is a good idea, if not required by the voting rules ... |

I never said I could not vote honestly, I would not vote if I felt I could not do so honestly. But, if I do not vote then based on my honest opinion the best photo won as I always like my photo and have no preconceived notions about the other photos because I never ranked them via voting. |

Ronnie I applaud your honesty and I appreciate you telling the truth.
BUT if people follow your lead you may miss out on a ribbon from someone else that didn't vote that would have given you the .0001 you needed. |

You do realize I stay up late thinking about that exact thing when I have a high running score? |
