can anyone explain what percentile is?

It's basically the percent of the images that your score is higher than.

Or to put it a slightly meaner way:

Your pic is better than X% of the entries.

So ideally you want your pic to be better than 100% of the entries (IE. first).

And it's useful when comparing across challenges. That is, finishing 34th out of 210 entries is not the same as finishing 34th out of 350 entries.

Well I'm not so sure the PIX is better than... the SCORE is better than. Heck a lot of my pix are better than the ones scored higher! lol
