Basically, just another fancy word for another free study challenge?

Photography "art" can be taken in so many ways... is there certain compisition, certain subjects that make photography art better than others?

No...and no.

It's like porn, you know it when you see it...at least that's how it works for me.

Thats a fine way of putting it, I really like that.

LOL! Good different way of looking at it...

I will have to do some searching in my photos for some originals now

First: Art of 2014 should be Advanced, not Expert. We are talking about photographic art not illustration art.

Second: Shouldn't the dates the picture is taken be Jan. 1st 2014 through Dec. 31st 2014 instead of Feb. 1-14th 2015?

The thread was based on a misunderstanding by myself. I thought this challenges was in fact the response to the Best of 2014 Expert Editing suggestion made by sjhuls. Which came about because of the various forum discussions regarding advanced vs. expert for the Best of 2014 challenge.

I didn't realize that there were in fact previous Art of challenges for previous years. If I had, I wouldn't have started the thread at all.

That being said, expert editing can still be photographic art. Putting a studio shot model into a different background, for example, doesn't have to involve any kind of illustrations, and can IMHO qualify as 'photographic art'.

I posted these question to the wrong thread by mistake, sorry for the duplication.

What rules apply re the size of the image?
From the rules: "no larger than 700 KB (716,800 bytes) (300 KB for challenges prior to October 22nd, 2014).".
So, do we enter the image in 2015 and therefor in the large format? Or do the rules apply, i.e if you enter an image from last year June it has to be small, and if it was taken after October 22nd it can be large?

And another question, can you take an image from last year and edit it for this challenge, or does it have to have been completely finished (except the sizing I assume) last year?

You can always see the allowed size in the panel on the left edge of the challenge submission page:

Originally posted by challenge submission page:

File Format: JPEG
File Size: 700 kB or less.
Dimension: No dimension may be shorter than 160 pixels or longer than 1200 pixels.

You may edit right up to the submission deadline, it just has to be TAKEN in 2014 :-)

Realized I didn't take much photography last year. However, I came across a handful of pictures I could use.
So, here I am, back in the challenges!
Let's see how it does
