i quite like this photo, its one of 3 i snapped before it flew off.
i thought it a bit odd that i actually was able to catch it sitting still. just figured i share it with the rest of you all..

Great shot! It would have done well in the silhouette challenge...

This is a very nice picture I like it a lot. It shows an otherwise flitty bird in a calm situation. The viewer sees that hummingbirds do sit still. I especially like the absence of color.

I'll tell you though, I had a similar photo of backlit hummer sitting on my feeder with a little flare coming through the juice, posted on another photo site. I found that most of the users just were not ready to see a hummingbird that is not flying and full of color. It had lots of views but no comments at all.

This is an excellent shot.

thanks, you'd think that the odd viewpoint ( i thought of entering it in unusual viewpoint... ) would cause folks to be more intrigued. even though it isnt the typical stop action. you get a good sense of the form of the bird, and i thought the form of the feeder matched well, and gave a nice curved composition. i'll also note my use of the rule of thirds. even though i didnt really follow it - it appears as though i did. centered subject - but frame is divided 1/3 - 2/3 by the feeder.

thanks for looking ;}

the other shots are just like this, but in one the hummer's head is in the feeder. the 3rd one has it's wings pointing slightly downward, and semi translucent.

the humming birds just started feedeing this past week in my area.

Your Hummingbird picture is really nice; I enjoy seeing pictures of them sitting down as hardly anyone ever takes them that way!! The silhouette is also very unusual.

Here's a pic I took last summer that I like.

Could you post the other images? I would like to see them. The first one you have shown here is great!

Your Falcon picture is very nice, too; Dim7. Bird pictures are my favorites. You must have been pretty quick to catch it in flight - I really have a hard time with that.

Do you know what kind of Falcon it is?

Thanks Sammie! No I don`t, it could be a prarie? She was quite small but very manouverable and could stop on a dime in the air with those long tail feathers, Always nice to see wildlife! It flew right by me but by the time I got to my camera maybe 15 seconds later She was at quite a distance!
